Write
(ME. Written, OE. writan, to scratch, to score, akin to G. reissen, to tear)
The
epic poem I finished Wednesday
disintegrated to ten lines Thursday.
By Friday it was down to three.
I
wrote on.
Saturday
had me dispensing with the impetus
of the poem. I was left with the title
which I’d only vaguely thought out.
It
is now Sunday, late at night.
I have been writing all day
and I am down to the wrong word.
All
my poems end with that word.
